"A lovely warm welcome to this beautiful newly renovated holiday cottage. A very comfortable stay - very well equipped - like home from home. Would use the accommodation again if in the area".
The Lake District & Yorkshire Dales have some of the best driving roads in the country especially in a Caterham and we dont see many 7s up here which lets the bikers have all the fun! - Malcolm who has a 7 and would be only to happy to join any seven owners who visit the cottage.
The cottage offers a base for upto 3 Caterhams with private parking and a garage (more parking can be arranged if needed). There is sleeping for 6 in 2 doubles and one twin room with linen and towels included - which saves on space when traveling up!
We are offering a 10% discount to all Caterham Seven owners by entering: Caterham7 at checkout.
Ive not got a camera on my car so Ive added some YouTube videos showing several of my favourite drives which are all within easy reach of the cottage. For those of you who are interested in organised events then The Wigton Motor Club has several events through the year which may interest you:
19th June - Classic Tour of Cumbria - Approx 100 mile tour of some of the most interesting roads in South Cumbria and a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum.
10th July - Lake District Classic Tour - As the name suggests a 170 mile tour of the Lakes and Dales
20 August - Rose & Thistle Challenge - A 180 mile tour of the Scottish boarders heading toward Edinburgh and staring at Gretna Green
21st August - Cumbria Classic Motor Show - Cumbria's biggest display of classic cars held at Dalemain
16th October - Cockermouth Rally - An epic weekend I cannot reccommend highly enough. day 1 is an 80 mile tour of western Lake District and day 2 is a 100 mile rally with 10 auto tests along the way. Tests last year included a carpark in Cockermouth town centre, a factory complex nr Keswick, a Karting track nr the coast, an auction mart in Wigton and Kirkbride Airfield. ITS BRILLIANT!!!!
If your interested in any of these events give me a call on 07540 223013 and Ill sort a deal for the cottage. Or if you just want some info on driving in the Lakes Ill try and help.
The route from the cottage heads south over the famous Shap Fell then via Kendal to Troutbeck over Kirkstone and back along the banks of Lake Ullswater with plenty of places to stop and enjoy the views.
JC driving over Buttertubs in a Cosworth. The route to here from the cottage takes you down the Malertang valley nr Kirkby Stephen to Hawes over Buttertubs and a twisty drive back over Tailbridge. You can also add in a loop over to Tan Hill - Englands highest pub.
Note; This video was taken on a busy Easter Sunday its normally not as crowded as this!.
A great drive midweek but lots of bikes in the summer weekends. A must do is the stop in the cafe on the top for a butty and cup of tea.
Once you have warmed up on the Lake District roads then its a short hop over to the Isle of Man and round the TT course.
