Ambelside Rushbearing -  3rd July. This is a festival celebration associated with the ancient custom of annually replacing the rushes on the earth floors of churches; rushes being a general term for rushes, reeds and sweet smelling grasses.

Skelton Show, near Penrith - 3rd July. Set in the pictureque Old Park of Hutton-in-the-Forest, this popular traditional Cumbrian agricultural show has something for all the family.  www.skeltonshow.com
